You don't need to fool with the Services app or do anything but those three things. I still haven't found a better fix, and it's been a problem with every release of iTunes since I started this thread. Nov 7, PM. When notified of an update I now uninstall itunes reboot and reinstall from the web site.

Saves any more hassle. Nov 9, AM. Uninstalling iTunes doesn't lose any settings, right? If so, that's a good way to do it, but it avoids the suspense of seeing if Apple has fixed this issue.
